Edwardian Furniture

Edwardian furniture has flourished most during the reign of England’s king Edward VII (1901-1910). It was the time when furniture style became quite old but the demand for antique furniture became fashionable among people.
Art Nouveau furniture gradually became influential because of its heavy furnishing-curving table legs, rolled arms, depicted leaf and flower motifs, feminine figures, lightweight fabrics, lengthened lines in fabrics with floral design and flowing graphics. Ornamentally curled arms and broad backs, bright bold colors are familiar features in Edwardian chair. Couches and wing-back chair were also attracted the attention of people. There was no particular style or specific design prominent in that era but the mixture of styles, which represented celebration of different culture and class, was dominating. The influence of Neoclassical and Art Deco designs was also seen and it shows that it was era of revivalism when previous designs evolved in a new forms and demands.
